Cuatro Ciénegas or know as the desert route is undoubtedly a fascinating place within the state of Coahuila. Considered one of the Magical Towns of Mexico, it owes its name to its abundant springs that form extensive Ciénegas in the middle of the desert.
You will be able to walk through extensive areas of dunes that look like sugar, but in reality they are made of gypsum crystals that make changing landscapes by the movement of the wind. A unique adventure!
6:30 a.m. HEB Gonzalitos (Plaza Real)
We will leave Monterrey towards Cuatro Ciénegas. The departure is from HEB Gonzalitos and we will have approximately 4 hours on the way. We will make a stop at an Oxxo so you can buy your snacks for the road.
We arrive directly to enjoy a delicious regional breakfast in the typical restaurants of the area. The guide will suggest the best options (food is not included)
Visit to the museum that was the house of Venustiano Carranza.
We will start our guided tour of the Blue Pond, we will enjoy the incredible views and you will be able to take excellent souvenir photos. You will witness how the water enters through an underwater cave transforming into crystalline blue waters. This place has been visited by NASA researchers
The gypsum dunes will enchant you! We will immerse ourselves in an incredible walk, where we will walk barefoot through dunes that, despite the heat, the fine sand maintains a pleasant temperature to walk on. You can take unlimited photos.
We headed to visit the old mine that, after closing its doors, became the old Cuatro Ciénegas Marble Mine.
Already getting warm, we are going to head towards the Mezquite River, you can bring snacks and drinks to close the afternoon together, we will be about 4 hours. Don’t forget to bring a bathing suit and sunscreen!
Our return is approximately at 10:00 p.m. in HEB Gonzalitos
